How to Improve Your CIBIL Score Before Applying

27 May 2026

Your CIBIL score decides both approval and interest rate. Pay every EMI and credit card bill on or before the due date — payment history carries the highest weight.

Keep credit card usage under 30% of the limit. Repeatedly maxing out cards signals stress even when you pay in full.

Avoid applying to many lenders at once. Each application creates a hard enquiry and clusters of enquiries pull the score down.

Check your report for errors: closed loans shown as active, or someone else's account tagged to your PAN. Disputes are free and usually resolved in 30 days.
